How this count is divided

The year

364 days. Twelve months of 30 days, plus four season days set as day 31 of months 3, 6, 9, and 12. Each quarter is 91 days, so the week never slips.

When the year opens

The year opens on the Wednesday inside the week of the spring equinox. The week runs Sunday to Sabbath. If the equinox falls on Friday, month 1 day 1 is the Wednesday before. If it falls on Monday, month 1 day 1 is the Wednesday after. If it falls on Wednesday, that day is day 1. The equinox is the permission to open the year; Wednesday is the door.

If day 364 comes first

The count does not jump the next equinox. After day 364 it keeps going as bridge days until the week of the next spring equinox, and the new year opens on that week’s Wednesday.

The day

A day runs sunrise to sunrise. Before sunrise, the app still shows the day that began yesterday morning. The week begins on Sunday. Sabbath is the seventh day.
